Some are about lead times, others about certification, and a surprising number come down to how the enclosure will behave in a specific room, not on a spec sheet. The first question is usually about load capacity. A server housing that looks identical on paper can differ by hundreds of kilograms once you account for rail spacing, mounting points, and how weight transfers through the frame. Clients who run high-density compute want to know the static load per U and whether the cabinet can take a full complement of heavy servers without flexing. The honest answer depends on the steel gauge and the welding pattern, which is why we ask about the actual hardware list before quoting anything.
Cooling comes up second, almost without fail. A sealed enclosure protects the hardware, but it also traps heat. Clients ask whether we can integrate fan trays, perforated doors, or blanking panels into the same frame that meets their security requirements. Clients ask about lock types, handle durability, and whether the door can be reversed on site. These details sound minor until a technician is standing in front of a rack that opens the wrong way in a cramped aisle.
Delivery logistics also surface early. Large steel enclosures are not parcel shipments. Clients want to know if the unit arrives assembled, whether it fits through standard doorways, and how much rigging they need to plan for. For sites with limited access, a modular frame that bolts together in the room can save more time than any expedited shipping option.
Finally, clients ask about documentation. Not just the datasheet, but the actual drawings, test reports, and compliance records they need to hand to their own auditors.
